If you were to list the key skills that have genuinely contributed to the successes of the richest people on the planet, you would have to put confidence right at the top of the list. Confidence is the attitude that effectively says to the world that you are in control ” no matter what ” and whether or not you actually are. It seems to be an elusive skill for many, but it consistently delivers results for those who can acquire it.
Just consider, for one moment, how you were influenced the last time you bought something or the last time you contributed to something. If your decision was influenced by a person, the chances are that person exuded confidence. You are very unlikely to have been influenced by someone who was shy, retiring or self-effacing.
If you do not consider yourself to be a confident person, it is therefore vitally important to your future business and social success that you become one. Now, as it turns out, this is not as hard as you might first think. Lets just consider what a confident person actually is: my proposal is that a confident person is simply someone who thinks they are confident. The desired behaviour ” confidence – simply oozes from individuals who believe in themselves.
You need to develop a deep inner conviction that you have the ability to cope with anything that life can throw at you; and that, of course, is a matter of belief. If you can change your beliefs about yourself, you can also change your behaviours ” it is a natural consequence – and therefore the results you are getting in life. This, of course, brings up the question of how to go about changing your beliefs. And again, it is not that hard: NLP, Hypnosis and Affirmation are all very effective methods.
Once you have finally addressed this fundamental, underlying confidence issue, you will be amazed at what can happen in your life. You can become really successful in almost any field of endeavour. It may be this very matter that is holding you back right now in your existing career, for example.
Naturally, confidence is not a substitute for other things such as training, improving your knowledge or aptitude, but if you could choose just one thing to work on in your life right now, learning to improve your self-confidence would be just about the most effective thing you could do to advance your career to the next level. So make up your mind to work on yourself because it will be worth it in the end; and remember that everything else follows from having the right attitude.
